April Netzer, MFT
The mission of my Therapy practice is to support children, youth, their families and adults, to heal and grow in a holistic, supportive, and collaborative environment.
Utilizing the Expressive arts: through art making, play, creative movement, sand tray, sensory exploration, psycho-education, sound and dialog, together we explore and reflect in meaningful ways both verbal and non verbal to aide in healing social and emotional challenges. I create a safe environment for children, youth, their families and adults to have their personal story unfold, to be witnessed and ultimately held in a different way. This shift and change promotes a space for healing.
In addition to children, I am also working with middle, high school age youth and young adults in support of navigating the impact of Covid and current challenging times.
Adult Art therapy and Psychotherapy available In person and via Zoom/tele-health.
All Child and Group therapy is done In person in my new Art Therapy Studio in El
Cerrito, CA.

By using art, play and storytelling, I am able to assess and explore such issues as:
I understand the challenges that parents face in trying to support their child/youth when difficult issues arise. It takes courage to reach out and seek the support needed to help your child/youth. My commitment is to be there to support your child/youth, you, and your whole family in your combined journey towards health and wellness.
I work collaboratively with parents in the therapy process as well as teachers and allied professionals. I also specialize in Dyadic therapy ( parent/child together in the therapy) to work on issues of attachment and/or disconnection.
- Self esteem
- Grief and loss
- Family conflict
- Trauma (sexual, physical abuse, disasters)
